Parasite ?

I just noticed today that my blue regal tang has a patch on his side where he has lost his color. In the middle of the patch is a reddish dot...similar looking to ich but red. He is eating well and I am treating the tank with hyposalinity....going on my 3rd week. Anyone have any idea what this could be? I really want to treat it before it gets worse if i can so anything you can tell me would be great! Thanks

Could it be a wound? Regal tang are infamous for getting wedged in rocks. Maybe it swam into a space it couldnt fit in anymore. Just a guess. If it is a wound the hyposalinity will keep it from getting infected and it should clear up with time. Sounds to me like your on the right track to nursing it back to health. If it is a wound and you have the tang in a Q tank you may want to try a stress coat treatment if it doesn't clear up on its own soon.

The medicated flake food might help prevent secondary infection, just a thought.
