Panther Grouper

I have found someone that is downsizing and is going to give away their Panther Grouper. I have a 200 gal tank and the fish is currently 6+ inches long. He says it has and will eat damsels but has not yet bothered his clown. Anyone have any ideas about whether they will bother a manderin. It is the only small fish I have. Other fish include a couple Pajama Cardinals, a Coral Beauty, and a Black Sailfin Blenny

Any fish that can fit in his huge mouth may become dinner.

I will second this. A grouper will eat anything that can fit in it's mouth.

I 3rd that.
Can't say i ever knew of a Panther that did NOT inhale anything it could cram in it's mouth. If not now , it will when it gets bigger.

Aren't mandarins distasteful to other fish?

(not that I'd chance it with the grouper)

I don't know that they are distastefull, tho I suspect that smaller predators may know the dorsal spine when locked in might not be pleasant, not sure that will deter a Panther grouper, as I recall they can exceed 18" FWIW I recall my bro in law had a 12" Panter and it scarfed a 5" dwarf lion in one gulp, it moped about for several days but recovered.
I have heard that because they have then itty bitty scales and a thick mucous coat they are less apt to get Ich, but over the years my observation is that without nutritional needs dealt with they secumb to starvation if not secondary issues

I think I am going to pass on this guy. Sounds like they are just feeding machines, which means lots of waste products. Thanks for your help, I am going to say "No Thanks"
