Palys growing on to clam

I have pink palythola that are going out of control. I started with a 2" frag, and now there are over at least 1000+ polyps in the tank. They are growing on the front and back glass, overflow box, and all over exposed rocks. Now, I dont rally mind this, because they are quite colorful, but now they are starting to grow on the base shell ttwords thebottom of my maxima clam. Is this harmful to the clam?

the clam is prolly fine. i have seen lots of corals growing on clams. i have also seen clams keep their shells clean by scraping against rocks. maximas have a good mantle area so it should shade out the growing coral as it gets closer to the top of the clam. it the clam is on the rocks then the clam will prolly start opening and closing more frequently to keep its shell clear of the growing coral.
