Question

pair of tank-raised maroon clownfish?

I am interested in getting a pair of maroon clownfish, however I have heard they are hard to pair so I can't just get any two. I know I could try and get a big one and a small one, but that isn't possible when ordering online and my LFS sucks. I have seen pairs at FFExpress, but I would really like to get tank-raised clownfish. My preference would be the yellow-stripe, but after seeing the limited options I would settle for white-stripe. Does anyone know where to get any?

Thank-you for any help,
Megan

I'm looking for the same thing, to replace one that is ill/dying. I've seen that Premium Aquatics has gold-stripe maroons that are tank raised. You may try contacting Jason about it.

If you find them, please post a follow-up here.

I called Premium Aquatics and they said that sometimes they get a pair of wild-caught maroon clownfish, but they don't sell pairs of tank-raised. The guy said that the chance of any two getting along was like 50/50. Not so good

Megan,

You might also try eTropicals, they have a page dedicated to aquacultured corals and fish (http://etropicals.com/coral/cultured_corals.htm). Look down near the bottom of the page. It talks about ORA bred gold-stripe maroon clowns.

Just some tips to pass along about maroons! I have a mated pair of maroon clownfish that I bought and they are very aggressive clowns!
My large female loves to re-arrange my DSB and she is very protective of her flower pot coral! When I upgrade to a larger tank the clowns will go as well as my puffer! Johnny

Not a bad price either! HTH
