Painting Tank

So I just bought my neighbors old 55gal tank to add to my growing collection... The back is painted black and I think it looks pretty nice!! Sometimes I think those backgrounds take away from the beauty of the animals within the tank... So I guess what I am asking is How do you paint a tank (type of paint...) Also what colors are commonly used and would look the best??

I am planning on turning this into a fish only tank to take some of my aggressive fish out of my 75gal and make that into a reef tank.

IMO any latex paint will do. The last tank Ithat I got, was painted using rust-O-luem. As long as it's dried, the latex should cause no problems.
