Painting in the next room from my tank

My wife will be painting in the next room, well actually our bathroom... Keeping the door closed between the living room (where the tank is) and our bedroom and keeping the bedroom windows open, the bathroom is adjacent to the bedroom... Would it be best to turn my skimmer completely off or what... How can I be sure this painting/ fumes etc. won't hurt my fish/corals.. if anyone has any experience doing this please let me know what steps I can take to help me fish..

This painting must get done and I'm sure someone has done some painting throughout their tanks life...

keeping the door closed would be the best thing. turning off the skimmer is also a good idea. i have painted walls directly behind my tanks before without any harm. i did turn off the skimmer to keep a lot of the fumes from being injected into the water column.

Thanks, good to know someone has been through this before.. I will definitely turn off the protein skimmer and keep the door closed, and keep the area well ventilated.
