Oxygen to fill fish bags

Thing plans are going well, but I think I am supposed to have compressed oxygen to half fill bags of water with fish with to move.

Is there an easier way to get this than buying a cylinder at a welding gas place or something?

Just be REAL CAREFULL using a cylinder of compressed Oxy no open flames nothing that can spark make sure no oil has got onto regulator threads the list goes on. the biggest thing is to make sure when you are transporting it make sure the cap is on. if the valve breaks you will have a missle on your hands. Here in NY most people cannot walk in off the street and buy a o2 cylinder

I would see if you could take the fish to BYU-I welding shop and use the oxygen there. Just remember these Vital tips when filling...

never fill a bag with Oxygen unless it has water in it.
make sure your hands are grease free.
avoid flame, spark or anything like it.

Check a medical supply store. You might find that a 2 lb tank is enough and much easier to handle than a 10 or 20 lb tank, and they may have a better tubing adaptor to fill bag with (and a hand-held release), just watch your pricing.

I would think that when you buy a cylinder from a welding shop you would have to make sure to tell them what you are going to be using it for to make sure they put in more pure oxygen, free of things that you don't want to go into the water, right? Just a thought.

Actually most oxygen used in welding comes from the same place that medical oxygen comes from, cylinders are generally filled from bulk liquid oxygen tanks, typically 99.8% purity. The main difference between industrial and medical ox is the cylinders its pumped into and the record keeping involved.
There are some lab grade gases on the market that are even more pure but the cost skyrockets for .2 % increase.

You could prolly see about getting a small "D" sized cylinder, but you still need a regulator to administer it, otherwise the pressure will blow up your bag.

On the user end oxygen is not regulated unless you want it for medical use, then its a controlled substance and FDA requires a prescription, even if you go thru a welding supply
