Over filtering water?


Is it possible to over filter your tank? I ran across a great deal on craigs list today and bought 2 used magnum 350's for $40 I now have a 20 gal sump around 70 lbs of live rock and a total of 3 magnum 350's on a 55 gal tank. It was too good of a deal to pass up. Everything is running on my tank now, but I am still cycling so it is not a huge deal if it is. I was just curious on some experienced reefers thoughts

do you have anything in the magnums if so it will turn into a nitrate factory very soon i use to run one on a 30 gallon with just carbon after a water change but then left it empty the rest of the time just had it running for cirulation . the live rock os the filter in a salt water tank

I have carbon and a filter sleeve in 1 and just the blue filter sleeve in the other two. I will prob keep the same schedule in my marine tank as I do my fresh water and that is changing all filter pads once a month. (Spread out over a couple weeks.... Ex. One this week, one next week, and so on.)
