outdoor tank

I want to set up a litle 15-20gal Mantis tank. I already have a fluval 304, but I don't have anywhere to put the tank.

I was wondering if I could put the tank out side. I have a covered patio and I was thinking that the best way to do this it put it under the patio, put in a couple of mangroves for shade and filtration. some macro. then put the fluval in a cabnet in the shade. I could use a heater (winters are mild) in the winter, but how would I keep it cool in the summer, it gets hot here in texas(100+) thanks for all of the info ahead of time.

Jake thats a near impossible project you have in mind given the temp extremes your gonna have to deal with. Mantis are tough shrimp but that may be stretching it even for a mantis. Surely you can find someplace to set up one more tank
Check with Raszagil she is the resident mantis guru. After months I was able to deliver her an awesome 5+ inch Peacock Mantis, mom and mantis doing well

ok, I will try and see if I can bribe my mom into getting athe kitchen counter.

ok, I just did I told her it would open an educational window into the family and that I was not absessed.

there was no pause and it was a direct "no way"

I guess I better try a different aproach. any suggestions?

Hmmmmmmm, and your promises not to spill fell on deaf ears. Thats a bummer. I had my 29 gal tank in the dining room next to the table fore a long time, after a while it was refered to as the "Sushi Bar" . Since I am the dad in the house I dont have to beg near as much when wanting to set up a new tank, but there are always tradeoffs
