Our local LFS is too smug

Well we went in and there was no traffic to our local LFS. We lost a fish from there that never ate and asked to see a PJ Cardinal feed. The owner referred me to an associate that said "yeah it ate".

There was an interesting coral and we asked about lighting and the guy walked away and just said it's an LPS.

Guess we are doing mail order from now on with food from the P store where Cynthia does a day or two at the vet shop now and then.

Perry I dont blame you I wouldnt buy from them either. I had that happen to me at my lfs but I reported the salesperson to the manager and he did call the guy in the back and when he cameout he was nicer but when I go there I refuse to let him wait on me. There's too many places we can spend our money.

I only have one LFS to shop. All the others are a waste of time . I'm basically on my own at the store. The livestock and dry goods are fantastic but if I didn't have TRT I would have 15 fish in a 15g . Ya know 1 fish per gallon .

jeeze, when I read stuff like this, I feel really lucky. I have two nice shops here (well, In Greenville), but I also remember what it was like to have to go to Atlanta from Spartanburg as a teenager (about 200 miles) just to find a place that even carried SW fish...

I agree Tom. I got spoiled in Florida where I had several to choose from. Where I am now (Phenix City, AL - Columbus Ga) there aren't any real LFS'es here. One or two small ones but mainly in the FW side. The SW store here has a few mushrooms because there is no demand here. There is a new one opening up (supposedly) that I want to go check out just to have a store here.

I am lucky ere as far as the attitudes go. I am known but still, the folks in both LFSs always are very friendly to everyone that comes in. They offer advice, not only what you would read in a book but from experience too. They also will let you know if something isn't a good idea for your particular tank.
I just wish they had more variety to choose from when it comes to SPS. That's slim pickings here compared to on line. But then again, we aren't in the saltwater metropolis either

ive found some good ones here in Northern Cali, one though, this place in Rocklin ill never go back to. My sister went in knowing nothing about SW Fish but had her tank established for a good 2 months. She saw some pretty colored fish called damsels... lol. She asked the guy to get her 5 or 6 for her 55g because they looked good. Also she saw an anemone that looked cool, it was a pink tip anenome. She went to go purchase both of these things and the guy didn't say anything to her... Long story short the damsels killed 2 of eachother, injured one, the anemone ate one and one damsel took a chunk out of my sis' small zoa colony. She had to get all the LR out of her tank to get the fish out. So she brought all of the live ones back and the guy didnt give her any money or even store credit. I was royally pissed.

All the LFS's here are glad to take your money. But if you have a problem, too bad.
