OT - FOWLR Aeration question

I am treating my 40 G FOWLR with kick-ich.

The instructions say to turn off the skimmer - dose the tank need an airstone or something for aeration? I'm running two maxjets, they are kinda aimed at the surface. Should I connect the airline to pull in some bubbles?

filtering is via LR and bi-weekly water changes.

The puffer seems to be gasping, but it could be due to the ich or because the temp is pushed to about 82F. He's not eating, either, after 48 hours of 0.5 copper (in a hospital tank) and a 15 minute FW dip. The spots appear to be slowly going away.

more air always a good idea when treating with meds. ich meds are not as bad as antibacterials. not as much bio-load dying off and using the available oxygen.

as long as the waters surface is agitated heavily your O2 content will be fine. the reason the skimmer should be turned off is that it will remove the meds.
