osmo prep


I just bought an ro/di unit. do I need to add osmo prep to the water?? what if I do not add the prep?? is there a certain way or time I should add it??

dont know what osmo prep is but dont know of anyone who adds anything to ro/di water. No need

I agree, never used it or heard of it. Just let the water a gallon or so before you use it to flush out the filters.

GIMMICK>

There's no need to put anything through the filters, if anything it will just put extra wear and tear on the filters. Just make your RO/DI , add your salt mix up to your desired salinity/SG, and possibly boost your calcium and alk if your tank has demands for it. Aereation and good surface turbulance with stirring/pump action will bring your water column to CO2 equilibrium to develope the buffer, and a heater to bring it to tank temp will fix everything. Always do a final check and adjustment for salinity before final use.
