Orange Spotted VERUS Orange Diamond Goby

Okay... so I didnt know there was a difference when I drop $38 on an Orange Spotted Goby a couple of days ago. I once had an Orange Diamond that would clean (sift) the ENTIRE 75gal sandbed in one day. AMAZING! Now that I've put in an Orange Spotted Goby. The stinkin' thing just sits on the bottom and stares motionless for hours on end and doesn't sift any sand what-so-ever thru its mouth. So I have gotten a Diamond one instead? I'm thinking the Spotted was is a DUD!

Any thoughts....?

Orange spot goobies will eat other foods and will pair up with a pistol shrimp
Diamond's are strickly sand sifters, and will starve in a 75 gal

you made the right choice in the long run

if you want to stir up the sand bed, get a pistol shrimp to go with it

I have an orange spoted goby and he keeps my sand sparkling white in my 55 gallon tank. I first bought a yellow-watchman goby thinking he would keep my sand clean and he is the one that ends up just sitting there and staring into space. But the two of them have paired up nicely and become good friends and they even share the same hole underneath a rock. I only paid 15 dollars for the orange spotted goby from a guy on craigslist.
