Orange Cup Coral (Sun Coral)

I wanted to see what people feed these, the lady at marine depot recommended Liquid Life Bio Plankton, CoralPlankton and Marine Plankton she also states she feed them mysis shrimp which I do have. I also have Kent Marine Chromaplex and Kent Marine Zooplex, she stated that under a microscope that the stuff looks like shredded copepods husks and amphipod husks... however the zooplankton looks nothing of the sort, you can clearly see it isn't a husk or what not... I guess I will be using the 2 litre coke bottle to feed them, I only have one coming with 3 polpys so I may can just feed them with a syringe... suggestions? comments? also if anyone can post pictures of their specimens it would be appreciated...

Thanks

-Roger

I've seen people feed their sun corals mysis shrimp and other frozen foods, using a syringe. Can't think of the site off hand but it shows exactly how one guy does this.

Are these slow growers? I have been reading up the past few months on it before getting it but I think I remember reading that they do grow slow and their skeleton grows slow... does anyone have any links to any good reads on this species Tubastrea aurea

Ok so I took my sun coral out to bowl feed it and feed him nicely, i wait about 10 minutes and feed him again, then I put him in the tank and my peppermint shrimp comes along and starts taking food out of their mouths, tomorrow I will be getting something that I can stick over the coral so it may heat in peace without being bothered, I just hope my shrimp is going to kill it by eating stuff out of it like that...

What I did was cut the bottom off of a 3 liter pop bottle then use a turkey baster to shoot food into the top then cap it. Now mine of have gotten to large to fit in the 3 liter when they extend. I make a mixture of Liquid Life Bio Plankton and Cyclopeeze to feed them. Every One in a while I feed them mysis shrimp but not to often. look in my gallery I have some pics.

I prefer to feed them something meaty. Mostly Mysis or sometimes I hand feed Krill.

I have to leave a half of a 2 litre bottle on mine to keep the shrimp from stealing its food, I think I will leave it of for a hour and make sure he has completely eaten everything...

My sun corals -
I have a Yellow and an Orange suncoral -

My feeding process is an every other day thing - my corals are "trained" to come out right around 9pm (when i get home from work)....

I start by chuming the water with a mix of zo-plan and phyto-plan.....and about 30 min later, both are out fully -

I then cut a small piece of silverside to feed to the cleaner shrimp, so he doesnt bother the sun corals -

Then, using a turkey baster, i lightly squirt a mysis/brine/GP mix onto the tenticals -

I usually do about 3 rounds of this.

I used to use the water bottle method, but the only thing that would bother the corals was the cleaner shirmp, so i found it easier to make him happy first...

here's some pics -

Here's the orange, almost fully opened -

and the yellow
