Question

Opinions Please!

I have probably asked this before , but I have a lousy memory! Anyway, as most of you know my set up is a Bare Bottom. I was wondering what thoughts you all have on LS in the sump of a BB. The reason I would consider it would br for PH buffering and the other benifits with sand. I would only put 1 to 1 1/2 inches in the sump. What draw backs would this cause as opposed to the benefits? Please give full feed back! Thanks,

Robert

MS, I think if you go light on the depth, you oughta be ok. Just enuf to cover the bottom , is what i hear,,,,Planning on going the same route on my 200, starboard, and enuf to cover ,,,,,
My 75 reef is now the same on substrate, only enuf arag gravel to cover the bottom, i have very little access to most any of the gravel , due to LR covering most of the bottom, and try to gravel vac what i can ,,,it does get dirty tho,,,

Anyone else?

Yeah my sump collects a good amount of detritus, of course I am curing rock. I like the idea of PH buffering. Thanks

I'm barebottomed in my tank and sump , I couldn't be happier . I would rather be able to syphone out the detritus then collect it .

I also don't believe the buffing benifit is worth it . My tank is just as stable PH wise as before I took out all my sand .

Good to know! One of the draw backs I just though of is that I wouldnt be able to pull the sump and clean it. I like things clean. Maube Ill just stay BB in the sump too.
