Opinions needed on pump

Anyone have any experience with the GenX PCX-40 Pump?

One of my little giant pump failed and I am thinking of replacing it with the GenX?

I ran a GenX PCX 55 for a year or so,.. it was a good pump and I didn't have any problems with it

Ive used a couple pcx 40's and a 55......for skimmers and a return at one point............

Good pumps never had any problems but they surely werent as quiet as I would have liked

Thanks guys. It is going on a closed loop. i think I will give it a try, I am not overly concerned about noise because my LG pumps are't all that quite either. My wife and I have kind gotten use to the ambient humm comming from out fish tanks. When the power goes out we almost think it is TOO quite.

How big of a tank is this for??

If the tank is more than 40 gallons........I dont think this pump will do much for you on a CLS. Id suggest a dart. It will be quiet, and with a ball valve on the output side you can taper the flow back, but have more sitting there should you want it.

As much as I would LOVE a Dart.....I made the mistake of only drilling (4) 3/4" holes for my CLS. SO I use 2 pumps. One pump (LG MDQX-4) is fed from one of the 3/4" holes and returns to (2) 3/4" Locline nozzles over the top of the tank. The other pump is fed from another 3/4" hole and returns through (2) short 3/4" spraybars. I had a LG MDQX-3 on the spray bars and it did pretty good......until it failed. (it was used when I bought it though) If and when I rebuild I am DEFINETLY drilling a couple of 1 1/2" holes that I can use bigger pumps on.
