Nick, I think I would have immediatly shut down the return pump and changed out the sump water( aint hindsite grand )
I takes a while toi skim it out but putting it all back at once will not make for happy coral campers
What happened with the house thing ?

I just put a nice big bag of fresh carbon in the sump. To late to change out the sump now Everything seems to be ok for the time being. I cranked the skimmer up a notch, I hope I didn't hurt the fish. On a lighter note, we are approved for the loan. nickg=homeowner

CONGRATULATIONS, NICK!!!!!
That's great news!!! Cause for you and your wife to celebrate!
As for the tank pollution; as always, a series of big water changes will help.

Congratulations on being a proud new "Home Owner" and those small monthly payments that follow!
Is there a plan in the works for a larger tank to look really nice in the new home? Johnny

Don't worry about the skimmate. I know several who dump it in on purpose and I have even done it several times.
HTH and congrats.

Not what you WANT to happen, but not the end of the world. Not necessarily poisons (heh, tons of terpenes though if you have soft corals... ... like TOADSTOOLS), primarily dissolved Organic compounds that have been removed to prevent their utilization by the tanks bacteria that would otherwise either be used by the corals or used by the bacteria to make nitrates. Watch your ammonia levels for a few days, and follow the carbon and water change advice already given. Not the end of the world, (heh, I heard the cheer from the algae here...), and your softies will prolly appreciate it as well, but not something that you'll want to happen on a regular basis.
Sorry to not gotten back in touch this week, a few little surprise events this week at work, but things are returning back to normal. I will be in touch this week.
