Are you telling me that you use IO Salt? Are you adding all your calcium and Mg?

I've used IO for 4 years w/o issues and never dosed calcium or mg.

I have just switched to reef crystals now though.

There are tons of threads on which salt people use if you want to search!

Well, I remember once mentioning IO salt and got reamed by Steve Weast about it. I did test IO and it was only ~350 calcium. Awful low. I havent' really been using it since unless I mix it with something else.

Where is Steve anyways?

anybody know what the Ca levels of NSW are?

BTW- Ca is not limiting in our systems, so it does no good to raise it above NSW levels.

i have not had a problem with my levels and all are growing OK. i prolly could up them some if i wanted more growth, but i do not mind some slow growth. not like i am in any hurry to want to frag everything.

how do you think IO came up with a value of 350ppm for for their salt mix? they pride themselves on having the most accurate formula out there. pretty much all of he major aquariums around the world use IO for their systems.

just tested my water. first time in at least a month. alk 10 dkh, Ca 420ppm, not sure how, but that is what my salifert said. the last time i added anything to the tank was about 3 weeks ago. i put a good helping of kalk into the reactor. the reactor has been squeeky clean for the past week though. i guess this is what was keeping my Ca and alk up.

the bad news is my nitrates were around 20. i am not to concerned though. i knew i was going to have nitrates. having 45' worth of 2" drain line is going to create nitrates.
