One Year Anniversary

Well October 1st has come and gone, and that marks the one year anniversary of my reef tank. The year has been filled with both trials and tribulations, but if I could do it all over again I would not change a thing.

This first photo was taken on October 1, 2002 right after I added the live rock.

After six weeks of curing for the rock in went the first fish. Actually the first five fish. (green chromis) and a clean up crew. Boy did the clean up crew clean up. In 4 days I was down to 2 chromis. Things got better from there. This photo was taken sometime in january 2003.

As time went on somethings grew and somethings died, but all in all I had a pretty good success rate. Thanks to TRT. This photo was taken in July 2003. Actually starting to look like an aquarium

And here is today. Thanks to all TRT members for their help and advise. I could not have done it without you. I want to especially thank Harpo. Not only taking my frantic phonecalls at all hours of the day and night, but for being my own private LFS. Half the corals in my tank were frags from his. I would go to his house and say "wow thats cool, I need to get one of those." and he would reach in to his tank, cut a frag off, tie it to a small piece of live rock and give it to me. I am affraid my tank would still look like the 4 month pictures without him. Thanks again Harpo.

Thanks to all

Bob

I guess I should have put a few specs in the post.

This tank is a 125

I have a euro reef skimmer, Mag 12 return pump, multiple maxijet power heads, 4x96w power compacts running 10 hours a day. an aqua logic chiller (I live in the desert. It was 104 degress yesterday)

The stand and canopy are homemade. That is why there were no doors on the first photo, I had not made them yet.

Fish include two green chromis, a percula clown, a midas blenny, a lawnmower blenny, a royal gramma, a fairy wrasse, and for the one year anniversary, I added a pacific blue tang and a blonde naso tang.

As you can tell it is mostly soft corals and invertabrites. The rose BTA is my favorite. This too was from Harpos tank when his BTA split.

Thanks again to all for the help and support.

Bob

Looks good Bob. Very few of us can say that we wouldn't change a thing if we could start over. That's a testament to good research and planning.

Great looking tank!! What and accomplishment. Not alot of people can understand the hard work that goes into this hobby, unless you live it.

Where abouts in So Cal are you and Harpo?

I live in Imperial and Harpo lives in Brawley. Both cities are in the beautiful Imperial Valley. Low desert region. Temperatures are still over 100 degrees in October. Basically the south east corner of California.

So tell me where you are in Los Angeles.

I grew up in Chino, Lived in Moreno Valley, Diamond Bar, and Palmdale along the way.

I'm up that way about once a month.

I grew up in Hacienda Heights and Whittier.

Lived about four years in Venice and Marina del Rey

My wife and I now live in Norwalk.

Where do you go when you come up this way?
