One Week Growth Pics

Hey all, Just snapped off a shot of the Monti Cap that was given to me and noticed that there is a perfect white edge all the way around the cap. It looks to me like new growth but thought I would ask for an expert opinion. The pic on the right is the newer, and I messed up when I resized the picture so it actually appears a little smaller than the other. Also the left doesn't have the actinics, I installed those on Thursday. The pic on the left is last Friday, the pic on the right is today.

Casey,
You would not believe the skimmate I get out of the tank I keep that 2nd one in. I have a "huggies 2000" skimmer, and I dump a full "cup" several times a day. Funny, never really a "dry foam" but it sure smells like skimmate.

Really BAD News

Dave,
I really hate to tell you this, but once you start feeding the second one, they grow and grow; they stick around making messes even worse than the skimmate now. They just won't leave. Even if you do get rid of them, sometimes they just move right back in. And if you think a reef can be expensive, WOW you ain't seen nothing yet.

If your foam isnt dry you need to turn your skimmer down a little so that it only spits out dry foam. Took me a good while to get my prizm deluxe to only spit dry foam on my 20.

If your skimmer is just filling with water you need to turn it down. The prizms have a control that limits the water intake. At any rate when I first hooked it up I thought something was wrong cause it was filling right up with water. But after some adjustments I finally found the sweet spot where it only fills up with a dry foam that turns into brown/black water. If the water your emptying isnt funky looking then you might need to fine tune that puppy.
