Question

Old dried out rock? what to do?

i have 15ish lbs of dried out rock. i got it from a guy who had both fresh water and saltwater but had these rocks in both tanks. (some in one and some in the other) most of the rock is kinda greenish and i was wondering if it was okay to use or if a vinegar bath would clean it up. or is it just not worth dealing with?

cook it... do a search for "cooking rock" it's not cooking it as in putting it in the oven... it's a flushing technique...

actually here's the thread..

You may be better off without it... are you sure that no copper based medications were used in the tanks the rocks were in? Clearing out copper doesnt happen easily, and you could really mess up a reef tank if you add those rocks. For a fish only setup, they'd be fine.
