Okay my tank is too purple
Alright please explain this again. My tank is way too purple and I want white crisp light.
I have 2 x 65w PC's in a 24 inch fixture. The white light is bright, but the blue is really purple. What kind of blue bulb do I want if I am not worried about the whole Tokyo by Night effect, just crisp white when everything is on and a little twilight at each end of the light cycle.

Try 1x 10k pc and 1x 50/50 10k/7100k(460nm). That would be way too white for my tastes, but might work for you. Either that, or 2x 50/50 10k/7100k bulbs. What are you running now that is way too disco for you?

A nice big sump with lots of evap cooling...
10kK would be just about right...
...especially if you used some DE bulbs with suspended reflectors rather than a hood up at arund 12 to 15 inches.

I am speaking to the fair half about it. If she is a little PO'ed at the pig roast I blamed it all on you.

I had some actinic PC bulbs that were all 420NM and they were way too pink/purple for my taste...I now use either 50%-50% 420NM/460NM or just straight 460NM...I think a 460NM and a 10K would be my choice for a nice bright white.

I'll show you guys what 10kK light loks like at the pig roast. I have a PFO running a DE bulb over my Q tank, it is the only C7C ballast I have now, but it wouldbe smething like what I think you'd like. The tank looks like diving in shallow (<2M) water at midday. I'll give you a snorkle and a mask and you'll think you need to ge wet...
