ok so i have a starfish problem


i came home to find my wifes 38 gallon full off white tiny starfish at first i thought it was air bubbles in the glass but as i looked closley they looked like little starfish how do i get rid of them and are they harmful.sorry cant get a good pic

member of the i hate fpl(florida power and light) club beacuse the just jacked up my light bill by 18% club and they made me get rid of my wifes reef tank causing mass comotion in my household.

Chances are, they are asterenia star fish. Most believe that they eat algae film off os stuff but there have been some reports of star fish eating sps corals. The fact that they seem to dominate on the glass makes me think they are the harmless variety. You don't need to do antyhing special with them, they will reach a stable population.

do they look like brittle stars if so there mini brittles harmless

yeah they have little legs like brittle stars will they take over the tank.

i had the same think, and tehn as they develop they actually turn into Spiroids... they look like little white starfish with blue tips on the ends of the legs, about 3 mm or so across..

well they might take over your tank but i just siphon them off every once and a while

You could get a harlequin shrimp. They are beautiful and won't survive in most tanks as their only food source is starfish.
