OK replacing equipment on 15 gal nano?

I am replacing the protein skimmer and filter? I know some people say that not to have any but I cant do water changes weekly i have no where to store the water. I see items like the Bak-Pak 2 skimmer and Bio filter.
I would like to do a hang on back system to keep equip out of tank. Skilters any good? Im lost Idk what to get Id like to get a unit that does both skimms and filters.

you cant do water changes because you cant store the water?i store no water and its easy to do water changes weekly..put it in a rubbermaid container and let it mix with a heater and powerhead overnight..check levels next day..siphon and add..-drew
