Ok Burping is driving me nuts!!

My skimmer Keeps Burping. I have a coralife Super Skimmer 125 and the output tube keeps burping and makes a ton of noise. it is directed into a box that is supposed to be a diffuser of bubbles. but the **** thing keeps burping. is there any cure for this and/or ideas on what i can do to make this stop.

Thanks
Mike

there is prolly a place where there is air collecting inside the skimmer near the bubble generations, usually due to unlevel placement of the skimmer. Th lack of level placement allows fine bubbles to coalesce into one large bubble that eventually gets big enough to pass the retaining downhill edge and makes the resulting "burp". Look for a place where the skimmer can collect air bubbles in the skimmer base, better yet, just level the skimmer placement.

Thanks for the advise on that. I have checked the skimmer and it is level. As far as bubbles they are all over. It is bruping consistantly every 2 seconds. If I take it out of the Diffuser then then it Does not do it but then all the micro bubbles go through the sump and into the display. is there a better way to diffuse the bubbles.

Thanks again.

i have one and noticed that if the outflow tube is below water level, it burps. try to raise the bubble box up a little more out of the water or raise the tube higher in the sponge.

Run the exhaust from the skimmer into a bucket that it must then overflow to go into the sump. You may need two (one inside the other) to slow the water down enough to degas before it reaches the sump circulation. I guess that in your situatioin the backpressure is the issue rather than being level.
