Which one???
It might look like a mess of pipes......but i have EVERYWHERE random AND variable flow in the tanks and i dont have to look at ANY pipes or big ugly powerheads in the tank to accomplish it. The only thing visible in my tanks are the 1.5" long omniflex nozzles coming out of the bulkheads.
They are however not very economical as far as electricity goes....somebody told me exactly how much each of these systems was costing me to run every month but i have since deleted that information from my memory.
They require a little more effort on the plumbing side vs dropping a few tunzes in your tank as well. ; )

Thanks Fly, I can never get enough of those pics, that is seriousally allot of pipe. If the CL pumps didn't take so much power I would probably go that route too, but my outlet is already on the edge of blowing the breaker The tunze at 30W each look allot better to the power meater than a 300W Pump.

Ya but in all seriousness, what I spent on those Tunze's would pay for that power bill for a few years, but there is still the breaker problem. I live in an apt, so I can't re-wire.

325 watt and 350 watt....respectively
Keep in mind that the 8 way unit itself is not even close to half of what the cls costs by the time you get done. I dont know what a tunze set up costs but i dont think its any more all said and done...not even counting electricity..........
But hey..........when my kid gets old enough to need a bike......ill just have to tell him that my closed loop systems were more important

The Tunze setup with mag mounts basically cost me about $940. What did your Closed loop with piping, om unit, and pump run?

If you include the bulkheads, unions and valves in that question you are looking at $1100 for each 8-way. Notice i used schedule 40 unions and valves.....if i didnt and used schedule 80 you could tack on another $150.

Ok, so really inital startup cost is somewhere around the same, the Tunze with the multi controller or the 8 way.
The upside of the 8 way, is 8 returns for even more random flow, and no pumps in tank, the upside of the tunze with it's wave maker is low power and no drilling plus it's easer to clean.
BTW, you can always pickup a used bike at a gerage sale for $10

bingo......thats exactly the differences
you could actually get even more creative than i did with the plumbing and have even more than 8 ports.............i just ordered a new tank to replace my 225 and i think i might get even a little crazier with it........ : )
I havnet had to deal with it yet but when it comes time to maintain or troubleshoot those 8 ways on either tank....im going to have somewhere between 45 and 50 feet of dead water in the pipes if its down for very long..............obvioulsy too much to put back into the tank..............that will not be too fun to reach behind the tank and drain each line 1 by one into a shop vac............

I had this problem with my current setup on a much smaller scale when my pump went out...It might cost a few bucks but keep a second pump on hand, exactly the same...so all you do is swap.
