now I'm all worried...
I haven't seen my seahorses eat yet, and I've been on seahorse.org figuring heck, they'd know if anyone will! Well the more I grill the lfs the more it's coming out that these are wild caught and not at all captive horses... now the org people have me all scared that they won't eat frozen and I'll have to keep buying live food for them and how it gets expensive, yadda yadda... if I end up losing these guys I know I'm going to be too scared to try again... especially since I won't buy another thing from that store, and I won't pay $60 for seahorses from Petco!
So now that I've gotten all that off my chest I can only hope that my gorgeous precious boys will eventually start eating...
I'm going to plan something else, cuz if I plan something for after their demise, then maybe they will stick around for a while!
So here's my hypothetical question for ya if you're still reading...
if you had a 38g tank with 50 lbs of live rock and you really wanted fishies, what would you get? I'd want to stick to somewhat smaller fishies since it's not that big of a tank and I like variety.
My list:
some blennies of some sort
some pj and bangaii cardinals
a coral banded shrimp! Oh yes!
mmm... oh what else? NO ****-SELS!

sorry to hear that your horses were wild caught. you can still turn them around. they can be weened off of live foods. i am sure those at seahorse.org can point you in the right directlion.

PM jenn M, she is the seahorse person here. she may be able to help you get them to eat, or I would suggest buying from OceanRider seahorses (captive-bred seahorses) rather than Petco, as the horses may have not been eating for some time if Petco had them.

thanks everyone, your replies mean a lot. I'll try to feed them tonight before I go to bed... I guess all I can do is what I can do... fretting isn't going to help anything.

Is there a way to make them more confortable? Perhaps if you covered the tank with a sheet they would be less scared about what is going on outside and consentrate more on eating and making a home?
Never had ponies, but it worked for a fish I had in Q.
