Nova Extreme fixture

Hey all, I bought a new Nova Extreme ( 24" 48 watts ) fixture today from a new LFS cause it was a pretty good deal (got it for sixty bucks out-the-door)( and the owner is an aquaintence of mine ).

Welllllll, I pulled it out at home and wasn't too impressed cause primarily the reflector covers the two bulbs and I know that the most efficient use is a single reflector per bulb. Plus it's not all that bright

Considering this is for a 20 gallon nano and will be used with a 150W halide over a bare-bottom, should I return this and just get some retro parts online or might this actually be useful?

Just thought I'd ask some folks opinions on this fixture. Darn those impulse buys!!!!!

Using it in conjunction with the 150 mh you'll be fine. By itself you're softies low light lps only.

Not really knowing a lot about T5, is 48 watts the same intensity as, say, a power compact at 48 watts?
