Noob it up
Hey everyone! My buddy Hatty324 sitting right next to me has gotten a lot of help from you all since he is about to start his own journey into the reef world.
I personally have just started a 10 gallon hex noob tank. So far everything is going good my hydrometer is perfect, and all tests have been good. I have had it running for about two weeks and just added my first piece of live rock (4lb fiji) The only problems that i have run into is getting a glass top for the tank since they only make black plastic and finding a high wattage mini reef light that is 14" or smaller, and keeping the tank temp at a constant 78 (it slowly goes up and down during the course of the day.
Otherwise i really have not thought up how i would like the whole live rick set up to go. Also i have done some research on fish that can go into a 10 gallon tank but would like some suggestions if you have any. Anemonie's? Coral? anything would be great!!! Thanks
Andrew

10 gallons tanks are tough, imo...but certaintly not impossible. Obviosuly with a tank that size the potential for parameter shifts is much greater.
I wish you the best!
Welcome aboard, too!! w000000000000t!!!

You can pretty much count Anemones out of the question. They just grow too big and you can't frag them. You have to wait for them to split on their own. As far as corals go, you are pretty much only limited by lighting, current and space. Lots of zoanthids and mushrooms will fit nicely in there. I have seen people do SPS tanks that small. Gobies of just about any type will fit in there ok. Maybe do a clown and a goby of some sort. For lights, Coralife makes a 12 inch light fixture that is 2x18PCs for like 40 bucks.

Welcome to TRT!!
do not put a cover on the tank. if you are worried about critters jumping out than put eggcrate over the tank (eggcrate is that light diffuser that is on drop down ceiling lights). what kind of skimmer do you have? if you are not going with a skimmer than you will need to keep up with the water changes. your LR aquascaping will also need to be very open to allow you to siphon out any detrital buildup.
good luck, SW is a different ball game than FW or brackish.

Thanks for all the info so far...
I do have a skimmer built into the fitlering system.
As for the lighting I did purchase a coralife 32 watt system. How high from the tank should it sit? mount it from the cieling?
Is there a certain forum I should Post my tank pic on?
As for LR I am not planning on much just two tall pieces of fiji to make a nice small arc.
Again thanks for all the help so far!
