noisy overflow suction

i have a 700gph pump in my sump.the noise of the suction is a real pain in my ears. i changed it foe a 500 gph and still sounds like a toilet is being flushed constantly. im going to get my 770 gph back since i see no difference, but do you know if theres any way i get get this thing to be quieter. i tried a muffler but the lfs said it may be dangerous if it gets cloged and it might overflow. any suggestions?

would this work? i have a back drilled overfow at the top. if i make a t connection at the top of the overflow on the outstode of the tank and at the top of the t connection drill a small hole for the air to go through instead of sucking it in the same hole as the water. of will it spill on to the floor in certain cases.

you should try the "Durso modification" the total cost is about 4 bucks in pvc parts and the effect is priceless.

refine your search wit the word Durso

I am on a free airport computer so it is hard to find the link right now but if you dont have it by tomarrow i will post it.

BTW i have used the durso on 3 tanks and it worked great (saved the tank from certain doom at the hands of my wife )
