No Way i dont BELIEVE this!!!!
I was looking in my tank. And i dont believe what i saw. It had a lobster type body and tail but white in color and big black eyes. I did some research and found out that it is a cirolanid isopod. Has one ever had these guys?? how do i get rid of them??
This thing is scarry looking.
Thanks...

Geoff,
My tank is fishless. It was on a piece of live rock then scooted out into open water, like lighting the back into the rock.

Hes kind of cool i think. How big is yours?? How about a small species only tank....you could feed him guppies maybe.
I want to set up a species only tank with a bunch of crazy worms and other invertebrates that we cant keep in our reefs

it's just one of those.. "big long worm" things.. ya kinda get creeped out by finding out you have such a thing..
I feel about it this way actually.. if I know how to handle it and know what to do so it cannot induce pain on me.. then I am ok with it. but some of that stuff you kinda have to wonder..

you can have it Geoff... the thing freaked me out. it was maybe a 1/4" - 3/8" long. i only caught a short glimpse of it but it wasnt small. I know it was not a regular amphipod because the hugeness of the eyes and where they were placed and the body shape were different.
is there anyway way to get rid of them?
I am never putting my hand back in that tank.

i have been bit by one of those once. drew blood on my hand. i do not want it. most are fish predators so as long as you do not have fish in the tank it will eventually die, not sure on the time scale though.

Cirolanid Isopod
Do a google on them and see how fierce they are. These things are the only natural predator of the great white shark.
