no variety!!! Arkansas pet stores????
Does anybody know where there is a pet store around Arkansas that has a good selection of marine fish.. there is one in Searcy but alot of the fish have some sort of illness ( ick and others acording to them ) the one in Jacksonville only a few tanks some with just 2-3 large fish in them. and then there is aquatic designs I think but there are currenty upgrading there tanks so limited supply pretty much corals and such.. all the others that I have found deal more in birds , reptiles and freshwater but not much in the way of marine fish. I like to go and look see something I like come back look it up and then possibly purchase the animal. but what I see is there isnt a lot of selection anyewhere her right at this time.. is there anyone in Arkansas that can tell me a good place to try??
thanks
Mike Searcy, Arkansas

Man I am glad that someone from Arkansas made it to this board. I posted a long time ago to see if anyone here lived in AR but did not get any responses. Aquatic Designs is about it. That is where I get a lot of my livestock, I almost live next door! If he does not have what you want he can order it for you, that is how I get most of my stuff. If it does not look good there is no obligation to buy it. He is a good guy, but he is trying to learn more, which is excellent,he is usually open to suggestoins. He has a guy who works with him on the weekends who knows a whole lot, he has a 300 gallon reef that I would love to see. I have almost worked part time there, but I just do not have the time. I have not been to Searcy yet but planned on going. There is one store in Pine Bluff, I have not been there yet but they seemed to know there stuff. They are also one of the few pet stores open on Sunday. The store in Benton does not sell corals, but he usually has a large selection of marine fish. Pretty much there is not a whole lot of stores around, especially since Tropical pets went out of business last year( I loved that place)!

I heard there was a place in Memphis or West Memphis that was named Kermits but havent been able to find anything on it yet>> I think there is somwhere in Conway but havent been able to get there yet to see what they have or where they are there..

The Tropical pets I am talking about used to be in Little Rock on Asher avenue. I have a friend in Memphis (where are you at Ree Fer)? He absolutely loves Kermit's reef, unfortunately I have not gotten around to going there yet. I was supposed to go this weekend but I have to work and plan a wedding! I have to say that of the stores I have been to in Arkansas, Aquatic Designs is the best when he has all his tanks up. The upgrades he is doing promise to make the place even better, and he is a really nice guy.

Kermits is a great store. They are exclusively marine and carry quite a variety. They will also special order anyting you want. They have a nice show tank, and all of their corals are under metal halides. They also have great deals on live rock. They sell it as low as 3.50 a pound. You can literally leave the store with a 5 lb. piece of rock for under 20 bucks. And, the people who work there know what they are talking about. Although the store isn't that big, its very reliable.

To get to memphis, just hit I-40 east. It will take you all the way to memphis. You'll stay on 40 east until you get to a split, where you will have to a choice to go towards Jackson or Nashville. Go towards Nashville. When you get to the Germantown road exit, go right. You'll travel quite a ways down G-town road, till' you see a SeeSels on the left. Make a left at the light, go though a 3-way stop, and there you will find Kermits just a few blocks down on the right. Good Luck! The phone number for Kermits is -- (901)755-8033. Call before you come... they have very strange hours. Another store that is on the way to Kermit's is Something Fishy. You'll make a right on the Whitten road exit, and it's just a block down on the left. It's a decent store, better for hardware than for livestock. The guy will match net prices. If you're coming all the way down, you might as well check them out. They are closed Monday and Tuesday.
