No Friends here

I recently git a green Carpet Anenome for my Tomato clown. Thinking that he would jump up and down when I gave him his new buddy. Unfortunately he doesn't go near it. Even though my LFS showed me a book that that stated the Tomato Clown "loves" this type of Anenome. I saw it with my own two eyes. Does anyone know of any clowns that would like this Anenome? Its so cool when you see a fish and inverbrate bond. Also I know my tomato is not a very nice fish but do you guys think it would be safe to put another clown into the tank if it was bigger? Would another tomato clown like it? Is that how it works Fish A doesn't take to the host but Fish B of the same Species would?

Well your green carpet, assuming it lives, will outgrow your 30 very quickly. IMO you should rethink that speci and return it.

The good news is the Bubble Tip (E. quadricolor) anemone is a great host for Tomatoes (Amphiprion frenatus) and the bubble tip is more likely to survive, AND reproduce in your tank.

To answer your question, I wouldn't introduce another clown. Depending on the age of your clown and how long its been alone, it's probably a female, and will kill other females and/or beat the snot out of any new clown you try to introduce. Of course, she might accept him as a mate too, but for me, that's a chance I'm not willing to take, because they are SO aggessive, a tiny male doesn't stand a chance if he's not accepted.

I wouldn't add another speci of clown either. That's a recipe for trouble in a smaller tank.

HTH

Thanks Jenn, I am off to get a Bubble Tip now. I love watching the relationship of my clown and an Anenome. I am going to do some research on the Bubble Tip now before I run out actually. I will let you know how it goes.

Jason,
Please do not put any more animals in your tank until you get your Nitrates and water quality in balance. See my response in your Nitrates post.
We want you to be successful with this tank but much patience is required until the tank is stable.

Hehehehehe.....we are all impulsive sometimes!
The longest 5 years of a Reefer's life are the first 6 months of a new tank! I know it's hard (been there) but for the health of your animals and long term success of your reef, patience and water quality are the key ingredients at this stage!
