hello just singned up, hope you can help.
I've been in the reefkeeping thing for only 2 months and the more I read, the more I realize my mistakes...lol.
got a 100 Litre tank with a 150w 14k pending MH, DIY mini refugium with chaeto running at 300 litres an hour.
the photoperiod in the tank is 8hrs a day with MH + 1 hour in the morning & eve with a 25w powerglo. I'm running a reverse photoperiod in the refugium with 6 hours darkness.
questions:
Is the wattage too much for the size of the tank?
Is it true that i don't need actinics if I use 14k or above?
Can I go blind if I stare at the MH?
I the flow in my sump correct?
Do I have to light the refugium 24/7?

forgot the slimmy part...got a fish that generates a sort of slime bubble around him wile sleeping, is that normal, is the slime poisonous... it takes to the slime bubble 2 days to dissapear

I'm not good at knowing what Liters is to gallons.As for the lights you want no darkness if you are running lights on your refugium.So your Reef lights are on 10hrs a day then your refugium should be on the other 14 hrs the reef lights are off.The reason is to keep th Ph stable.Why would you want to stare at your Mh anyway ,but to answer you,I wouldn't do it.And the fish your talking about sounds like some Parrot fish.And it's just messy.It's to pertect it while sleeping from others that mite attack him.

those cocoons are generally not poisonous they are just a defensive barrier. you wanna see a really, really fast fish puncture that bubble. that fish will gone!! you do not really want to do that, the fish may hurt itself in the attempted escape.
