newbie questions

Do I need a calcium reactor for a 55gal? Do you only need a calcium reactor when you have certain corals? And how would I go about setting up an automatic top-off system? I don't have a sump. There will be a eheim canister, bakpak2, and a prizm protein skimmer on my tank if that means anything
.

That banana is funny as hell

You don't have to have a calcium reactor unless you want it. With a small tank like yours it's not a problem to maintain calcium levels manually using limewater or one of the two part supliments. I have a 55 also, and I just add limewater with the top-off water once a week. IMO, a calcium reactor is just too expensive (it's not just buying a reaction chamber, but also a CO2 tank and regulator as well) to warrant buying it for my tank which is mostly soft corals that don't require as much calcium as sps and lps. I have'nt heard of using a calcium reactor in a sumpless system, still I'm sure someone here has done it.

lmao. My wife would kill me if she found out I had said something like that. Which is why I never said it out loud. Except for me at the time, it was cars and not fish.

put the canister in a easy to get to place, you will need to clean it about every week or so...
what will be you fish load?
if you have a good amount of LR and running the bak pak and skimmer then you might not have to run it except once i a while to "polish " the water...IMO anyway

give us a the run down of what is or is going to be in their...

and boy you guys and gal are in soooo much truoble if they ever find out... that's why i take her with me to the LFS so she can decide that we need another tank for that pretty clown trigger......
