Hi everyone. Been looking at your site now for a while at work ( not doin much work ) but the stupid filter on our email wouldnt let me sign up. So now that i have a home computer its all go.I'm fairly new to keeping marine fish and found the site offered some very valuable info and ideas to help.

I'm in the middle of moving my 20 gal into a new 60gal and hope to have some pics soon (will post when i do).

Hope to build a good relationship with some of you and look forward to the advice i get from the endless questions i will probably post.

Thanks guys.

The LFS has a small 3" high orbic batfish. Will the 60g be to cramped for him?

Long term it will be cramped for him. Unless you have immediate upgrade plans in the future, i would not do it.

Also... Welcome to the board!

welcome from one new castle to another,LOL

for a bat fish yes that is way too small. i have one he is about 8-9 inches now and 100 times too big for my tank. i am saving for a 150 very soon for him.
they grow very fast. there seems to be ahit and miss with them eating, i have never had trouble with any of the bats i have had in the last few years.
they will eat pellets, flake, ghost shrimp, nori, and belive it or not mushrooms!!!!!... mine clean a whole rock off of 8 green mushrooms...

they are a beautiful fish but IMO anyting small then 100galon tank would be too small.

G-day, and welcome. I agree with Tims, a 60 is way too small. But it is the perfect size for a kick butt reef tank.

Welcome to TRT!

I'm not sure if you could get the book locally but I know you could order it online. Scott Michael's "Marine Fishes: 500+ Essential-To-Know Aquarium Species" is a great ref book when making fish selections.
