New to Reefing, Identify Objects?
Hello, I am new to the reef tank and am looking forward to learning from everyone here! I've been poking around for a couple of weeks now and finally decided to start a tank. I purchased a used 72 gal bowfront w/ sealife systems pro 150 sump and skimmer, rio 1700 pump for skimmer and a model 7 (?) return pump. I also purchased some live rock from an online company this week and was wondering if you guys could identify anything on my rocks. Thanks, Tim

Did you order from tampabaysaltwater? That pair of eyes in the 4th picture is BAD, take that rock out if you see that guy in it and pour carbonated wated in the hole and he'll come shooting out, thats a mantis shrimp he'll eat your fish and everything else in the tank.

good catch.. i didn't even see the Mantis the first time through...
Alot of what you are picturing is sponges and a few dead corals. It looks like a bunch of Caribbean or Atlantic species.. I also agree that it must be rock that was from the Florida regional cultured sellers.

reeftanker, it came from liverocknreef. I have been watching that guy in the 4th pic and he looks like a crab kind of. He has a deep hole inside that rock. Is there any other way to get him out of there?

Also you have some nice halimeda algae and some other macro algaes, dont remove them they will prevent nuisance algaes from growing by taking the nutrients out of ur water.

SOme of those corals possibly could be alive still... but you can find Florida rock is quite available.. I know of at least 4 sources to get plus a few retail locations that buys it from those sources as well..
