New RO/DI Unit

Finally got my RO DI today. THe quality looks good, but I have a questions.

1st off, here is the one I got:
http://cgi.ebay.com/AQUARIUM-RO-DI-R...4.c0.m14.l1262

Its supposed to be 100 gpd. I dont need that much, but it didnt really matter to me. I just did a rate check on the unit, it gave me 2 QTs in about 14 1/2 mins. Thats about 50 gallons a day. That is only half of the rated production...

It came with a water pressure gauge and it said the pressure was 20 when I hooked it up. I went outside the house and increased the pressure at the regulator to give me 35. Now the faucets really put out some water...anyways. I started to doubt the gauge they sent, so I took it to the garage and pressurized it with the air compressor, At 50 PSI, the new gauge reads about 42. I figure when the gauge is connected to the water supply and reads 35, it's really about 42ish.

Should this decrease in production concern me?

no... it's just that, as decrease in production. If you are concerned with it, then you can buy a booster pump from air water ice which will get you to 60-70 psi...

With the water pressure I have at my place, I am lucky to get about 30 gallons per day out of my 75 gpd membrane. It is no big deal as long as you know how much water you are able to produce in a given time frame. I keep my 32 gallon Brute container nearly full of RO/DI water at all times. This means I only have to run my unit for a few hours a few days a week.

Thats a relief, thanks guys.
Will it effect the membrane or the rejection rate at all? What about the rejection ratio...will it go way up?

thanks

You won't get the same reading from air into a meter made for water.

The rejection ratio is usually 4 to 1, and that seems to be consistent for almost any of the units.

CMAC is having a meeting tonight at Tideline Aquatics in Charleston, it starts at 7:00 PM if you are up for a road trip.
