New please help

hi im jake, ive been keeping freshwater fish and planted tanks for over 4 years now. i have be secessfull with them. now i am wanting to turn a 29 gallon tank i have sitting around into a live rock reef tank. i have an idea of what i need but i would love help from more experienced reef tank keeper. what kinda filter is best? what i kinda light ect. any help would be greatly appreciated.

For a 29 gallon (depending on what you are wanting to keep) you could get away with just waterchanges and Live Rock as your filtration. For lighting (again, depending on what you want to keep) I would recommend a 150w Metal halide fixture for this task (or if handy enough, a 150w Retrofit kit and custom canopy). Tell us a little more about what your plans for the tank are and what you intend to keep in the tank. My biggest piece of advice to you is to read... alot! Just follow some of the build threads here on TRT and it will help you along the way. Also, never be afraid to ask a question... the only dumb question is one that is not asked (although usually the answer can be found quickly using the search feature here on the site )

A 29 can easily be ran with just water movement and LR for filtration. I run a skimmer on my 30 because it gives me a little more leeway on waterchanges and keeps the water oxygenated. A 150 Mh or a T5HO w/ individual reflectors would be nice.
