New on board, need help

Hello everyone,
I am new to this board, put my specs up earlier today. Seems like a friendly placeand I look forward to visiting often. I'm afraid I have a lot of questions, need help! But I'll try and start with only two.
First, what is bulldozing most of my corals around??? I thought that all of the critter in my tank are reef-safe. But everytime I anchor (rubber band, glue, rocks) corals into place, unless they are big, they end up on the bottom of the tank within two days. It doesn't matter if they are in strong current or not. A few of my snails (Astrea, I think) are very large, about 2 inches in height. Is it them?? I watch, but can't catch anything in the act.
Next question, I wonder what happens to my peppermint shrimp?? I start with 6, lose one at a time until there are none. The coral banded shrimp? Hawkfish? I need these little guys because it seems to be the only way to keep the aptasia population under control.
Thank you in advance for all your help.
Shannon

Shannon welcome to the reef tank. I suspect theat the big asrea snails are in fact on of the "turbo" snails, as astreas are usually much smaller. Turbos arent known for grace and finesse and frequently knock things over or loose. Hermit crabs of any size can do it to as will urchinsI hate to be the bearer of bad news but Hawkfish love to snack on shrimp. The cute perching behaviour is them waiting and scoping out a potential meal. The least offensive in the group seems to be the long nosed hawk and no guarentees on that one
Coral Banded Shrimp get much larger than the typical peppermints and are quite territorial. They wont even tolerate other CBS unless they bond as a pair. Some people are lucky and have no problem in big tanks but in smaller tanks(under 55) its a sure bet the pepps will eventually lose the turf war. On a side note one of my pet peeves is the phrase "ReefSafe". I will start a new thread dealing with that issue. Hope this has answered some of your questions, you have more? Bring em on
