Hi Wrasse Man - welcome to The Reef Tank.

Another Wisconsin reefer - if we keep this up we can hold the annual Oregon picnic here.

Very good! The more people from Wisconsin the better! Welcome to the board! Do you know of any good places to get coral? The best place I have found is Aquatics Unlimited. Well anyway, just wanted to say hi!

Welcome aboard, Wrasseman!! Glad to have you here. How 'bout telling us about your 75 and posting a description in the Tank Specs Section?

Hi all!

Drewman: Sorry, I would have to say that I am not a big fan of Aquatics Unlimited. All the fish I have gotten from them have been diseased, or die off quickly. I have never bought a coral from them, but their coral holding tank is what I strive not have. Also, the people there may lower themselves to help you, but they may not. Sorry to be so down on them...just personal experience.
I would recomend the drive to Highland Park, IL to North Shore Aquatics. It will be worth your time. The corals are a little more pricey, but still reasonable. (They had a double headed Sarc that was about 12" tall and 5" across for $70. They are pretty friendly are very knowledgeable. Also, the fish I have gotten from them have been top-notch. If you are making the drive, be sure to call ahead and make sure that Michelle is working that day. She knows this stuff backwards and forwards. Their site is www.rarefish.com

I am not a fan of Aquatic Unlimited. I suggest Hoffer's Tropic Life on 76 at Good Hope. Or go talk w/ David over at Fish Fanatics on National Ave in West Allis , David is a great guy however his selction is limited but will special order at reasonable prices.

Thumbs up

Aquatics Unlimited is the only place I found locally that sells corals. I bought all of my FW fish there and they were all great, so I assumed that the sw would be great also. But now that I think about it, they really dont have the greatest looking stock there. Although the corals I got recently are doing very well. But I will definately check out those other places. I thought I knew about all of the FS around here. I'm new to reefing so I am still getting to know all the dealers around here. Thanks for the replies.

Drewman, I am a firm believer in shopping around and gettin a feel for LFS, then settling on the one that best meets my needs. Price is a consideration yes but honest input and realistic approaches are things I value
My favorite LFS is run by a fellow reefer who also is active in the local reef club. I have introduced him to this board and others, and in return I have gotten a good look at the buisness side of the hobby, so I have a better appreciation of that end. You need to cultivate a relationship with a shop and that takes time but, definatly worth the effort
