Drew,
I would recommend removing the Feather Caulerpa. It is a very fast spreading algae that can take over your tank!
Otherwise, nice looking rock!

As for the stubble, I have something that looks similar. It grows rapidly but doesn't get much thicker. So far it hasn't become a pest and I hardly notice it. My snails eat it but it grows faster than they can mow it down. Do you have any snails in your tank yet?

not yet, still showing .25 ammonia...Mrs. Morgan told me to wait til its zero....that's the tough part....I am getting a good crop of brown algae on part of the rock, so the snails will be well fed when I put them in....they'll be quarter pounders before I know it...

Dipstick,
I'll bring you a snail tomorrow. What's your ammonia now??
Have you done a 2-gal water change yet? If you want, you can siphon some of that brown algae up when you do your water change.
I forgot to tell you that Dr. Greene stopped by and I showed him our classroom tank and your future fish! He thought the fish was beautiful. Yes, I told him what his name was...
See you in the morning!

Drew I'm proud of you for being so patient and for researching and learning as much as you can about your tank. You're going to be a good reefer and you have a great teacher.

Thanks, Rick! and Drew is the best! A real joy in the classroom and very curious about learning everything - all sorts of things!
