New corals here, now what?
I never thought about this... Do I put all the corals I ordered into one container and then acclimate them or do I leave them all in their seperate bags and acclimate them that way?
BTW, the one container with the snails and hermit crabs was very warm when it got here (84 degrees), I hope that doesn't do any harm... The corals were like 82 degrees...

Now that you have the corals, you take pictures and share them with us!
I'd drop all the corals in one container, and the snails/hermits in another. 84 degrees won't hurt them, but a quick drop in temp can, so just take it slow when acclimating (I assume you'll do a drip acclimation?).

Yes, I was using a few drops from the turkey baster every 10 min or so into each bag but now I'll put them into a container and start dripping over the next few hours...
I did take pix of them in their bags, I'll get more of them in the container then (of course) in the tank so you guys can tell me if they seem positioned OK (I won't hold anyone accountable)... this is nerve-wracking, when I bought my other corals it was one at a time and they were far larger than these so they didn't seem so scary... I feel like I've just brought home my first-born and am afraid to bathe her or something for fear of breaking her...
Another question, the snails and hermits, do they have to be acclimated as long as the corals or is an hour ok? Also, I already had to feed them because the hermits were going after the snails and some of the hermits have broken shells...

fyi - you'll get advice both ways on the corals, but a lot of people just temp acclimate (by floating the bag) and then put corals in. I've done both ways, and haven't had a problem either way. I would just float them for 30 minutes then start attaching one at a time (this is the fun part - be patient, attaching them is sometimes tougher than it looks).
for the snails, etc. definitely do drip acclimate them. They should be acclimated for 2 hours.

keep In mind his tank is just a few months old the corals are coming from a very established tank that has been setup for a long time...If he puts the acropora in his tank after floating for 30 minutes the survival rate is alot less....I would definately float then put them in a container and drip acclimate them.....put the acros in there own container, the snails and shrip together and any lps by themselves...IMO this is best because the came out of seperate tanks

My tank is over 9 months old now... And why float them first? By the time you are done dripping the water into the container the water is cold again... I did that but I don't understand the reasoning... I was going to put them into a bag and temp acclimating them again before putting them into the water...

If anyones curious WHY some feel it is better to simply temp acclimate then dump them in........it is because you do not want to let the nasty water to get exposure to air, it offgases the co2, the ph rises and makes the ammonia toxic.
This is of all of course relevant to the amount of ammonia that is present in the first place. If it was a quick smooth journey, this is less important than if it was a rough or long journey for whatever reason and the water is nasty. If the water is nasty like this you want to simply get them out or you will do more harm than good
Besides some inverts, I bring to temp and dump

snails don't have to be drip acclimated, i rarely even temp acclimate them. i either just drop them in or let them attach above the water line and let them crawl in. anyone else not bother?

i test the bag waters salinity. if the salinity is within .002 of mine then i just temp acclimate.
if more than .002 i will take a hour or so to acclimate.
