New Coral Acclimation

I bought a torch coral Friday...whoo hoo! My second coral!

My question however is that as with my frogspawn, it took a few days after introducing him into the tank for him to look totally happy. Is this normal or am I still doing something wrong with my acclimation?

Thanks!

Allyson imagine being taken from your home, shoved in a box and hauled across town then moved into a radically different environment, prolly take a few days to get back to normal eh.
OK thats an extreme example but should serve to illustrate some of the stress involved, so its not unusual, esp with the large polyp stonie corals. treat the bag with jid gloves and think happy thoughts

Thanks!

way to go Allyson a torch is a nice addition to your reef, just give it a coulpe days and some medium random current and it will look great. Make sure you give it some space though, once it sences other corals to close it will send out the boys(sweepers) to gaurd the neighborhood.

take care

Glad you took that in the spirit it was intended, after posting I had thoughts of damaged reefer psychi and corals in therapy Anyway LPS seem a little more pouty(tho not always) possibly because of polyp size vs skeletal mass and structure. I suspect that major change like this cause save its self reactions that eat into its energy budget. Oh oh I am babbling, time to get to work

Hey Allyson-

I am going through the same as you! I just bought a bright green plate coral and it has been 'not as nice' as when I bought it. Kinda made me feel uneasy so I called the LFS and they said just give it time. Sure enough, woke up this morning and the thing was open even bigger than it was at the LFS. Gave me a good feeling for a Monday morning. Wish all Mondays could go this well!! LOL
