Welcome to TRT !
No bashing here please feel free to ask questions.

For a reef all you really need is live rock and a skimmer

skimmers are needed to remove organics from the water before they become algae food

You don't have to have a skimmer but you would need more frequent waterchanges -

just curious ,,,, why does everyone mind doing water changes? i love knowing that i'm giving my fish fresh water....i really enjoy doing it..and it doesnt take any time at all...i guess it would get spendy after a while cause i only buy purified water for them..how often do you think with a pretty well stocked 29 gallon? 2 times a week?

10 percent once a week should be good make sure you siphon all the detrius out and you should be fine.

dude your coral will thrive much better with a skimmer. I enjoy maintaining my tank also but I love seeing my coral happy all the time. not just 2 or 3 days after a change

Welcome to TRT! Even changing alot of water which I do,I still get a lot of waste out of my skimmer and I don't have alot of stuff in my tank. But I have a better skimmer then the sea clone. You will always get some stuff out with a great skimmer.
