neon goby

so, I bought a neon goby to help out with parasite control in my main tank. Problem is, no body has any problems except for the neon goby. It looks like the little bugger has ick. There is no way for me to catch this thing, it is less than 1" long, so I guess the normal SG manipulation/temp increase should help, or does anyone else have any suggestions? Would it be beneficial to add another neon goby or stressful due to territorial disputes? This is my first neon goby, and it is eating and acting very lively, just has some spots. Actually the spots look huge on such a small fish. Hopefully all will be well, but suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

JJ,
You could try soaking his normal flake food with Selcon and Pure Garlic oil and hopefully the little Neon's immune system can pick up and kick the Ich. Since you can't catch him and put him in Qtine, this is about the only thing I could suggest.
I'd hate to think about trying to catch one of mine....they sure are quick!

Hey JJ,

What is your temp in tank? Before you med I would raise the temp a few degrees but don't leave it up more then a 4 days. Take fishdaddys advise on selcon or garlic, I just lost my butterfly because I cought it to late Im no expert so hope more post for you.

I'm running my temp at about 82F. Currently SG is 1.024. Other numbers are good, except my NO3 seems to have crept up a bit.

NO2 - 0 ppm
amm - 0ppm
NO3 - 15ppm
Alk - 14dKh
Ca - appx 400 (I hate doing this test)
PH - 8.4

I have about half of the bio bale material in my CPR BakPak skimmer for bubble control. Upon inspection, I noticed that there is an accumulation of detritus located there. Perhaps a good cleaning will help that problem. This system has been up for over a year with 60 lbs Figi LR and a 3 1/2" DSB and never any NO3 until now.

I do have a skunk cleaner in this tank, but I haven't seen the neon go anywhere near it. The shrimp is over a year old, and is pretty big so the fish may be scared...

Mine had ick, due to the fact my salt was 1.020. I know, I know. That is what I was told to keep it at when I started this hobby. Raised it to .024, took about 2 weeks to go away. Ding fine now.

Ain't it a real kicker when you find out that the cleaners are more susceptible to parasites than the fish they are supposed to clean?
One good thing, neons are tuff little buggers. Best thing to do right now is lower the temp, if you can, slow things down, and give his immune system time to kick in. Higher temps can actually stress him more. If you add another neon, you run the risk of them fighting.
