Question

Needle Wheel or Venturi driven skimmer?

I need a new skimmer and was wonder what all of you are using and how happy you are with it. This skimmer will be for a 75g SPS dom. system.

Needle wheel hands down I've heard great things about Octopus skimmers, but never used one myself, I've also heard great things about the ASM G3. I've seen both of these running on systems and was pretty impressed with each of them.

I use a Turbofloater on my softie tank (I don't reccomend it) And a older Euroreef on my 125G SPS tank,.. I love the Euroreef, and hear the new ones are even better,.. but there pricey.

I have an ASM G3 and it is great. I would go with needle wheel.

i prefer pressure skimmers. i have a DIY eductor skimmer on my tank now. pressure skimmers tend to process more water than needlewheel skimmers. a needlewheel is a horrible way to push water through a tube.

i like the needle wheels too, smaller pumps to run them, and more reliable in my experience to stay consistant once you set them. i ran a becket skimmer for a while and was really impressed with what it pulled out for the first day or two, but they just seem to require far to much maintenance for my taste, i wanna sit back and enjoy my tank, not check every little thing every 5 minutes to make sure its all working right.
