need some help with the crp back pac

My main issue right now is with micro bubles going back into the tank. I put a filter sponge in the outflow to stop the bubbles and it is working somewhat. I still havent goten much skimate. The skimer is the crp 2+reef ready w/ the maxijet 1200,and it has been running for two days. My salinity is just under 1.023 will that effect i?. Any Ideas would be great, thanks.

now that I got the damm thing working it is loud! is there anyway to quiet it short of putting it in a sump under a cabinet?
there is a venturi scilencer @ work I could try but it seems like the pump is the loutest part next to the bubbles.
