Need replacement fans for Aquapod 14g

Need replacement fans for Aquapod 12g. They both stopped working today. they started getting kind of loud about a week ago and now they don't work and smell like a fried piece of circuit board.

Looks like they are made by Chenri Electronics
DC 12S6015H 12V
Made in China, go figure.

I really don't want to splice anything and was looking for a deal on stock replacements.

either way, i think you are going to have to splice.. nothing a little solder and heatshrink tubing won't solve..

Measure the fans and convert to mm and look for a quality replacement PC fan.

I guess I will head to Fry's tomorrow and find a fan. I don't even know what CFM they are rated at but I do know I want the quietest ones possible.

The stock fan is cheap as well. It has brushes in it after I took it apart.

Just a nice quiet fan in the same dimension will do, just find the highest CFM fan you can

That's about what you are going to pay for a quality fan... exactly the opposite of what comes stock..LOL

I am jealous you have a Fry's nearby. I loved those stores back in SoCal, but not the rest of living there.

Measure the hole centers diagonally making sure that calipers (or a ruler on the finest graduation if you just have them) line up with the new fan, and that the voltage is the same. I would assume the fan is 110 or 120 Volts AC which is line.

While you are there get some of that heat shrink that has the adhesive that will melt with your heat gun. A cordless soldering iron is under 20 bucks. You have got to know a nerd that is really good at soldering.

Finally, the ground wire for the fan will have a stripe or else some sort of lines in the plastic. You want to line this up so the polarity is correct. AC will still work but it is more better to be consistent with this.

I think ten bucks is reasonable for a replacement especially if it plugs right in and is the right size.

I got all the stuff to do it except the fans and believe it or not they are 12VDC fans. Their is a little circuit board that it plugs into and I am assuming that the power for the fans comes off the LED lighting circuit since it is a DC circuit anyways by looking at the wiring. The output on the DC transformer for the LED's is 12VDC so I should be good to go.

My unit only has 1 fan but it has plumbing for 2 fans so I was going to do a little upgrade as well. Fry's is great, it is how radio shack was 10 years ago. You can buy all the nerdy stuff like diodes, capacitors and all that stuff. I love that store!

Yep I build all kinds of machines for our manufacturing floor and it is horrible how Radio Shack is now down to four drawer racks of actual parts. The don't have all the boards and wire and components they used to. I hate having to order from Digi Key and wait three days for parts, so I pretty much had to build up my own stash at work.
