just found this scary looking flatworm looking thing in my tank, doesnt look like an aefw but it doesnt look good to me, what is it???

it is a flatworm, theres alot of different kinds out there  & some get REALLY big

I just found one of those in my tank, put it in another thread, Yes its a chiton, there was a red one in the pics that I just went thru i'll try to find it, and completely safe. here is the other thread with mine. only difference is the color. http://thereeftank.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106501

hmm, well thats too bad i yanked him and tossed him while i was waiting for a response, he was crawling out of view so i figured id grab him while i still could if he was bad. maybe i have more of them... ugh, now i feel bad

definitely a chiton, not a flatworm.
Thats already been covered though......I just posted to say I have this huge (almost 1") lavender colored one that i see every 4-6 months. I always like finding him.
Too bad you murdered him Mike.
Just kidding.  When in doubt get it out.

what mike did everyone is a normal reaction when you are not sure about something you find in your tanks. we all try very hard to have a beautiful living reef tank. finding something that may or may not destory it is not nice on the mind.
the best suggestion is to remove said discovery to a clear container so you can take good pictures. then place it in tothe sump where it can live until a correct ID can be made. this way if it is bad it can easliy be romoved, if good it can either live in the main display or stay warm and cosy inthe sump.
mike, not picking on ya just using this thrad as a good example.
